Vice President | SHPE Central Florida
With a background in Project Engineering, Program Management, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production Operations, Naomi Hernandez is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lead Project Engineer of a team of ten engineers on a classified program for Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems with significant responsibilities, including program operations, technical integration, change integration, and risk management focused on leading and innovating through quality execution.
She is a SHPE Lifetime member and has been with the organization for over a decade in various roles from chapter founder, serving on countless regional and national committees, and serving on the National Board of Directors. Hernandez has served in leadership roles in Region 5, Region 4, and currently serves in Region 7 on the SHPE Central Florida Board of Directors as Vice President upon her move to Melbourne, Florida in January 2017.
Hernandez attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas where she first learned about SHPE. She holds a Master of Science in Systems Engineering, is a Six Sigma Green Belt, was a 2010 Young Hispanic Corporate Achiever, the 2015 SHPE Junipero Serra Award Recipient, and a 2017 HENAAC Luminary Honoree.
Besides her involvement with SHPE, her other mentoring activities include work with Latinas in STEM, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, MentorNet, and employee resource groups including Northrop Grumman’s Adelante.
